KIDSTREET (1986 - 1992)

Race car seats, high clapping and an appearance by Seth Rogen made ‘Kidstreet’ an unforgettable Canadian TV game show

If you grew up in the 80s and had a brother or sister, there’s a pretty good chance you dreamed of being on “Kidstreet.”

The Canadian television game show ran from 1986 – 1992 on Global Television and featured a “Newlywed Game” format where two siblings would have to correctly answer questions about each other.

What made it even more fun was the teams sat in race car seats and clapped their hands above their heads! We’re not sure why but we’d be lying if we didn’t say we loved it!

The team that scored the most points had a chance to complete a bonus puzzle and win the grand prize, which often included a coveted Nintendo Entertainment System action set and other amazing prizes from Toys & Wheels.

One notable alumni was actor Seth Rogen, who appeared on the fifth season of the show with his sister. During an appearance on “Late Night With Seth Meyers” in 2018, Rogen told Meyers the show was like “The Newlywed Game” for kids but “not in the gross way.” He also told him he tried to cheat.

“Kidstreet” was hosted by Kevin Frank and produced by Blair Murdoch Productions. The show was filmed in front of a live audience at CKKX studios in Calgary before moving to Vancouver for its final year at UTV.
